The 2023–2024 SMU academic year will start on Monday, August 21, 2023. With holidays and semester breaks, the university has scheduled a total of 169 academic days for this year.
Each of the two semesters, Fall and Spring, that make up Southern Methodist University's academic year lasts roughly 15 weeks. There is also a summer session that lasts 11 weeks.
