International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is observed annually on March 8th and serves as a call to action to accelerate gender equality and empower women worldwide.
The origins of International Women's Day can be traced back to the early 1900s when women in many parts of the world were fighting for better working conditions, suffrage, and other women's rights. In 1910, at the International Socialist Women's Conference, Clara Zetkin proposed the idea of a Women's Day to honor women's struggles and accomplishments. The first International Women's Day was celebrated in 1911.
